Have you written your diary today? If you have not written yet, read this and start writing your diary today.
If you have already been writing, I am happy for you. You are already enjoying the benefits of it. But are there more ways to benefit from it?
You don’t have to spend any extra time daily to enjoy these benefits. Just a little time once in a while will do. You need to just review your diary to unlock these benefits.

What is this review?

Have you heard about weekly targets? Quarterly reports? Yes, you are right. Those reports exist for companies.

Reviewing is also the same. You evaluate your life on a periodical basis – Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly. Our lives are as important as the companies. We need to know how effectively we are living in the limited time on this earth.

Reviewing the diary and taking action on what you have written takes you to the next level. It’s not only about the goals. It is also the relief you get when you read how the difficult phase of your life has passed. It also makes you feel more aware of your life and helps in evaluating your important relations.

When I did my yearly review, it gave me immense confidence in myself that I have faced all the obstacles strongly. The good things of the year made me relive the memories once again. Inspite of a lot of bad days, I still made a lot of progress in life. If I had not reviewed my diary, I would have never known how much I have improved.

Will just reading the diary come under reviewing?

Reading just tells you how things went. But making notes tells you the actions you need to take for the betterment.

What should the notes look like?

I make my notes with the following subheadings:

Good things:

> All those activities which you always wanted to do but have actually done this month
> Progress you made in this month in regular activities
> The list of bad habits you broke
Bad things:

> The activities in which you performed worse than usual
> The habits which you could not stick to
Neutral:

> What you did differently this time but nothing good or bad has come out of it yet

Memories:

> The events which you want to remember forever.

Emotions:

> The external things which evoke emotions in you

Action points:

>The next steps you want to take

The following is a snippet of my February review:

Good:

> Made quilling earrings
> Improved at work
> Started cooking my lunch

Bad:

> Didn’t exercise much
> Published very few articles

Memories:

>Watched a beautiful sunrise

Emotions:

> Happy: Travelling by train after a long time

Action Points:

> Make an exercise plan

This is just my way of reviewing. You can do it in your own way. Tell me in the comment section your ideas on reviewing.

What are you waiting for? Do your first review today.

Happy reviewing!

Why should you write a diary?

Have you ever wanted someone to write about you?
Or have you ever wanted to write about yourself?
Even if you haven’t, then writing a diary might still be for you.
Somebody might just be able to learn something about your life (even if that somebody is you).

Writing a diary might not seem like the most fun thing to do. You might be worried about your privacy, you might not have the time, or you might think you live an uninteresting life and writing about it just makes it unproductive.

Why should you start writing a diary?

          You can record your life:

Not everyone is famous. But everyone is unique. Write whatever happened with you. You are the ever forming product of the events and your reactions to them

You can brainstorm:
Stuck with a problem? Can’t share it with anyone? Your diary is ever ready to listen to you.
You can dump your feelings:

No one wants to talk to you? You can dump all your feelings on it. It will not shoo you away. Nor will it ignore you. It will take all the pain and makes you feel lighter.
Your goal tracker:

Write down your goals. Pin that page on the top. Every time you visit it, it keeps reminding you of them.
Your health tracker:
It has a reply for “When was the last time I was down with fever or cold?”
 Your mood tracker:
How many times have you cried lately? Your brain might lie. But this will present the facts to you as they are. Nothing to lie. Nothing to feel ashamed of. Truth as it is. You can fix those mood swings.
Your writing skills improve:

Do you struggle to express yourself? Over time, you will notice how easy it is to communicate. Your relations will improve along with your communication. But then you have to start writing first.
Your reflection:
A mirror flaunts only your outer beauty. A diary shows your inner beauty.

Are those reasons enough for you to try writing a diary?
Yeah! But I don’t know where to start.

How to start writing a diary?

Online/ Offline or Soft copy/ Hard copy:

Decide that first. A lot of people fret over privacy. I suggest Evernote or WordPress private blog for these writers. At the other end of spectrum are the writers who press on writing with pen on paper. You can go for a diary with lock or lock your diary in a safe place.

         Time of the day:

A lot of them don’t write because they forget or feel tired at the end of the day. So decide when you want to write. Keep a reminder till it becomes a habit. The best way to write is whenever  you think you want to share something for yourself. Read the uses of it here.

Now that you have set the basics in place, you might be wondering what to write.

What to write?

What did you do today?

It is the easiest diary prompt. At the end of the week, if you are doing the same thing every day, at least for the sake of writing something interesting in the diary you will want to change your routine.

Gratitude journal:

Write down three things for which you are grateful for today. Easy to write. It also improves happiness in the longer run.

Goals:

Once you are comfortable with the easy prompts, go a step ahead, discuss with diary your goals. Even ten years down the line it is going to tell you what goals you have achieved and what have remained as dreams.

Emotions:

You are sensitive to your surroundings. At times you react in a way which you should not be actually reacting. You can trust your diary with that. It will not make you feel guilty. It will only tell you what to do next time.

You can write about a lot of other things too. Customize to suit yourself. Let me know what do you write about in your diary in the comments section.

Happy diary writing!

12 signs that you are wasting your life

Image result for dont waste your life
It is just one life so just enjoy it.
If you are really enjoying it in creating productive stuff, then good for you. But most of the time people confuse enjoying to whiling away time. They think gossiping all day or watching TV all the day is enjoyment.
Why not say it is just one life make most of it?
Why do I have to work hard when I am anyway going to die some day?
Even the people who gave away a lot for the world knew that they are going to die someday. Why did they work hard?
I have only been failing all my life. What point in trying?
Did all the people who succeed, succeeded in the first attempt?
There are many more such excuses which people give when people are wasting away their life. Identify today if you have any of the below behaviors and then fix them.

1.You spend 100% of the time in planning

Ideally, you should spend 80% of the time in planning and 20% in executing.
But how do I know that I reached the 80% of planning?
If you want to write a book, if you are only deciding what to write on for more than 30 hours you have reached the 100% planning. Instead, if you had written in every hour of thinking, the topic you wanted to write on, and the titles of chapters and subtitles in chapters, even if you had taken 30 hours to still decide the book, it just comes under the 80% time in planning.
Start planning efficiently today to stop losing out time in life.

2.You have more than one addiction and consider it as a birth right to enjoy them

Smoking is not cool. Just because you can’t give it up, don’t term it as something which you should definitely enjoy. Accept the facts today before your addiction eats you up. Wake up from the slumber and give up your addictions. You will find life more beautiful than it ever appeared before.

3.You have grown in weight and nothing else over the years

When was the last time you made an attempt to learn something new? Is your intellectual level same as what it was last year?
It is time you start reading books, watching courses, try something new. Choose anything out there but just learn something.

4.You binge eat

It is not just you. Every person out there is stressed. You control stress by binge eating. And the most successful guy you know about deals with it by exercising and meditation.

5.You have long forgotten your childhood dreams

Remember that guy who wanted to be a pilot. Remember that guy who thought painting is just sufficient to keep him happy. What happened to him? You silenced him. You threatened him. You asked him to be an adult and forget the dreams. Allow him to come out now. Let him live his dreams. Where there is a will, there is a way. You can definitely make time for your dreams.

6.Your day is not complete without gossiping

It is one of the worst habits anyone can ever have. Yet you do it all the time and feel restless if you don’t. Read here why gossiping deteriorates your life. Get rid of it today and use that time productively.

7.You feel envy

Your life doesn’t improve by feeling envy. It only improves when you take action towards your dreams. Start pursuing flow activities today and become an inspiration for others.

8.You indulge in negativity

You spend way too much time in self-loathing. Negative self-talk is sufficient to pull you down in life. Change that today. Tie a rubber band to your wrist. Next time you catch yourself in the negative self-talk, pull the band and leave.

9.You don’t fix your problems

You spend too much time in complaining. Even if you fix, you fix them with Fevicol instead of fixing the bolts.

10.You only think about what others did not do for you

You want to be paid well, you want to be loved, you want respect, everyone wants them all. What is that you are giving the world back?

11.You constantly apologize for no mistake of yours

You need to apologize when there is a mistake of yours. And the apology should be clear and the mistake should not be repeated again. But if you just keep apologizing even if there is no mistake of yours, it shows that you don’t love yourself enough. Stop doing that do and give a proper apology letter if you made a genuine mistake.

12.You never went out of your city

You need not go on a world tour. Even if you just
go on a low-cost budget tour to a place in the outskirts of the city, it still counts. Even if that is not possible, go to the museum or must visit place in your city where you have not been to before. Anything different from routine will do. But go for that change and explore life beyond your four walls.
Happy realization and improving yourself!
